Briansk, WWII guerilla area

Russian Civil War, World War II.
During the Russian Civil War Bryansk was one of the main producers of armored trains for the Red Army, Leon Trotsky. Although the first armored train appeared during the Civil War in the U.S. (made Russian colonel Turchaninov) and are currently being used by Chief of the Korean people Kim Chen Irl, the massive use of the armored trains was precisely during the civil war in Russia and…China (Chinese Civil War 1924-1929 period = total amount of the Armored trains was about 100 !). Hundreds of armored trains (!) operating along the railroads were an important factor in the victory of the Red Army over the Russian army and allies. During World War II the Bryansk region became known thanks to the large partisan (guerrilla) movement. Regular officers of the NKVD specifically left to the territory occupied by Germany to organize partisan units behind enemy lines. The aim was to destroy by partisans the enemy communications, especially railways, disrupted trains with equipment, ammunition depots explosion.
Another object of the partisan was to destroy German soldiers and officers, and getting intelligence information. Squads were formed from remaining behind the lines of the Red Army, a local resident and represented the group of 10 to a few thousand. Oversaw the creation of professional teams – the NKVD to sabotage – diversion work with the participation of the heads of the local Communist Party.
Most units were in the woods, on partisan bases. One of these bases remained near Bryansk as a museum of the Second World War. Base is a dugout, kitchens and other infrastructure. German authorities have periodically staged punitive expedition to destroy guerrilla bases. Guerrillas in response often changed his position.
Many guerrillas disguised themselves as civilians, wear civilian clothes and lived in cities. The combination of guerrilla (“underground”) in urban and guerrilla groups in the forests made a great, if not the main contribution to the victory of Stalin over Hitler.
Another secret mission of NKVD were moral and political goals. The purpose of these operations was to increase hostility between Germans-occupiers and local residents. Most of these special operations classified to this day.
Soviet propaganda has worked much better than the propaganda of Hitler, which played a decisive role in the victory of the Soviet people over the enemy. Well-known name as “rail war”, when both were blown many tracks in the rear of Germany.
In Bryansk a museum “guerrilla base.” This place is a favorite for the “lessons of living history” involving members of military history clubs.
During the “guerrilla tour” our guides not only to tell and show the objects of the military life of the guerrillas, but also provide uniforms for the photo, it is better to feel himself a “partisan.”
Near Bryansk there is another museum where artifacts and historical materials about the guerrilla movement in the Bryansk region.
The importance of the partisan movement marked with the special holiday “Day of partisan”. See also the Partisan museums at “Tour from Moscow to Kursk” (combined)

Caucasus Elbrus tour from Moscow

Caucasus the mountains Piatigorsk Elbrus. Cossacks, World War II, “Edelweiss”.
This region has always had a reputation as the place where the war. Beautiful nature, rich history. It is believed that the Caucasus – a dangerous place for foreign travelers. Here, allegedly kidnapped foreigners and are acts of terrorism. This is not true.
Foreigners do not understand that the territory of the Caucasus – a very large and diverse. There are dangerous places, where it is not recommended to go for the foreigners, such as Chechnya. There are safer places that have traditionally been the most popular tourist destinations. These places include Mount Elbrus. The local administration, local residents and representatives of the local tourism industry are doing everything to these places were no more dangerous than any major city in Europe. To understand the reasons for cooperation of local inhabitants of the Caucasus with the Nazis, it is necessary to study the events of the civil war in Russia. Soviet authorities long destroy national culture, and fought against religion, especially against Islam and Orthodoxy. That is why many locals collaborated with the occupation regime of the Germans. For this collaboration, Stalin conducted mass deportations of many peoples of the Caucasus, which has implications far. The history of Russia is a very complex and contradictory. History of the Caucasus is even more complex and interesting. This region is well worth the visit it for 1-3 days and learn more about the culture, history and traditions of the Caucasus and the history of World War II in an operation “Edelweiss”.  Piatigorsk city – leading Russian resort with the world famous the mineral water. The age – more that 150 years…

Black Sea, Novorossiysk, port hero-city
Russian Civil War, British tanks, World War II and colonel Leonid Brezhnev.
Novorossiysk – a major sea port.
During the Civil War through the port shipped British tanks MK 5 and French “Renault FT-17” for the Volunteer Army in 1919. Here were the armored trains. Here was the evacuation of the Volunteer Army in March 1920.
During the Second World War there was an operation which was personally involved Colonel Leonid Brezhnev, the future leader of the Soviet state. His memories of “Little Land” about Novorossiysk and events here read all the citizens of the USSR. There are museums and memorials.

Arkhangelsk, North Russia tour

North Russia American Expeditionary Forces, British expeditionary Forces.
These sites are primarily related to the continuation of the First World War in Russia. Civil War, American Expeditionary Force, the British Expeditionary Force, the Bolsheviks. Here is preserved even one of the world’s six tanks MK V, and various museums. A characteristic feature that the fighting was along railways. Red partisans, on the contrary, are often left in the forest. The specialty of this region is that preserved many of the old houses. These houses, these buildings have a distinctive feature – the wooden one-or two-story. In the north, it is called “wooden zodnichestvo.” And of course – cold. Summer temperatures are usually not hot. In winter, of course, cold, snow, ice. Tourists often come here not only to learn more about the history of the American Expeditionary Force in northern Russia, but also to understand more about the “Russian frost” and “Russian nature.”
Here, close to the northern and Russian missile test site “Plesetsk” which is precisely the places that have been used by military units during the time I of the Civil War in Russia. This landfill space launches satellites with small angles of the orbit. Startups are a beautiful sight, but the range and its museum are practically closed to foreign citizens.
Survived many photos with being British and American forces in the north of Russia. 339 Infantry Regiment of the U.S. after the war in Arkhangelsk even got a plate on which the polar bear and the inscription in Russian “Bayonet decides”
In the U.S., there is a museum dedicated to the American expeditionary forces in northern Russia, which we also visit those who are interested by the civil war in the north of Russia and the American Expeditionary Forces.
In the U.S., there are many descendants of participants in these events, which sometimes come to see these places connected with the history of their family.

Ural, Perm, GULag

Russian Civil War, Russian Tsar family, Stalin era the Big Terror.
These sites are associated with fairy tales and legends, based on precious stones and minerals. There really is mined precious and semi-precious stones. On sale are souvenirs from these stones.
The Russian Civil War also associated with these places. Murder in 1918 in Perm Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich, who was to become the Russian Tsar after the abdication of Nicholas 2. Permian offensive White Army against the Red Army of Comrade Trotsky. Places of the Civil War battles in Russia. These places are connected and one tragic history of Russia. Gulag. Concentration camps where Stalin planted many citizens of Russia. Western civilized man it is difficult to understand the logic of the Soviet Stalinist system. This system is barbaric and inhumane. Mass executions and conviction in prison was common. Killed and imprisoned for not guilty, but only because everyone NKVD had every month to find a number of “enemies of the Soviet regime.” If he did not carry out a plan to search for enemies of the Soviet power, he automatically became the enemy of the Soviet regime and subject to repression. It was enough to resent some way to, for example, that the store bread is not fresh, and the person to be shot as an “enemy of the people”, or 15 years prison for “anti-Soviet propaganda.” Concentration camps of the NKVD – “The Gulag”, barracks were built quickly and qualitatively, so far almost did not survive. The second reason, they were all under the control of the NKVD. When the order came to destroy the concentration camps such as the Gulag after Stalin’s death, they were still in the office of the NKVD. The secret of the system represented by the camp – a fence, fence, anti-escape devices, etc. As a result, the perimeters were destroyed and many other parts of the concentration camps.
At this point in Perm remained almost the only museum in the world Gulag – a concentration camp for political prisoners, the period of Stalin. The camp was preserved only because even after Stalin’s death, continued to sit there famous political prisoners. In this camp were the enemies of Soviet power. There were collaborators – who during the Second World War, cooperated with Hitler. Here sat accomplice attempted Brezhnev – policeman, whose form used Ilyin. There were human rights activists and dissidents. This is the camp described in the book by Alexander Solzhenitsyn.
In Perm, preserved many of the old buildings of the 19th century. Now the city is rebuilt, but still have the old parts of the city.
Foreign tourists are recommended to visit this place, to understand the history of Russia and the Soviet “Stalin’s paradise.”
